Director of Development (Fundraising & Grants)

💰 Role:The Director of Development (Fundraising & Grants) is responsible for driving the organization’s fundraising strategies, including grant writing, donor relations, and securing sponsorships. This role ensures the financial sustainability of the nonprofit's redevelopment projects and community programs, helping to advance the mission of revitalizing urban neighborhoods and fostering local entrepreneurship.


Key Responsibilities:

✅ Grant Writing & Research

  • Research and identify new funding opportunities, including grants, foundations, and government programs.

  • Write compelling grant proposals and applications to secure funding for housing redevelopment, community programs, and sustainability initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and deadlines.

✅ Fundraising Campaigns & Donor Engagement

  • Develop and execute strategic fundraising campaigns to meet organizational goals.

  • Cultivate relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors.

  • Create donor engagement strategies, including donor recognition programs, events, and ongoing communications.

✅ Sponsorship & Partnerships

  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate sponsors, local businesses, and philanthropic organizations.

  • Develop sponsorship opportunities for events, programs, and projects.

  • Manage and track sponsorship agreements, ensuring deliverables are met.

✅ Funding Progress & Reporting

  • Track and report on fundraising goals, ensuring timely and transparent reporting to leadership and stakeholders.

  • Provide updates on fundraising progress and adjust strategies as needed to meet targets.


Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:
✔ Experience: At least 5 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations within a nonprofit or similar sector.
✔ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Business, or related field (preferred).
✔ Technical Skills:

Proficiency in grant writing, donor management software (e.g., DonorPerfect, Bloomerang), and fundraising platforms.
Strong knowledge of fundraising best practices, donor engagement, and reporting tools.
✔ Strong Communication & Writing Skills:

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for drafting proposals, reports, and donor correspondence.
Ability to craft compelling stories and messaging that resonate with funders and stakeholders.
✔ Relationship Building & Networking:

Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with individual donors, sponsors, and foundation representatives.
Networking skills to identify and secure new partnership and funding opportunities.
✔ Strategic Thinking & Goal-Oriented:

Ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
✔ Passion for Mission-Driven Work:

Deep commitment to supporting affordable housing, community development, and sustainability.
Alignment with the organization’s vision and values for urban renewal and local entrepreneurship.
